CBS Baltimore Grasping for a Local Angle on Duck Dynasty Controversy
WJZ TV in Baltimore played the guilt by association card on Under Armour last night. The Maryland based clothing company is a sponsor of the Duck Dynasty television show. Monique Griego, a reporter for the CBS affiliate dropped this ridiculous headline last night on the station’s news blog.
“Many” according to the supporting information in the article means one Under Armour customer WJZ talked to. Two other customers according to the article seemed to recognize that this is largely a nonsensical story line.
“Someone sponsoring something, of course they stand behind what they say,” said Under Armour customer Kia Boose.
“I don’t agree at all with what he said at all,” said April Rancier, customer.
Griego: “But would it make you question whether you should shop here?”
Rancier: “Nope, not at all.”
“They’re not suggesting that anyone who buys Under Armour has those same beliefs,” said Angie Pallozzi, customer.
Under Armour naturally gave WJZ an obligatory statement distancing themselves from Robertson’s statements.
“The recent comments in the GQ article are not reflective of Under Armour’s beliefs and do not represent our point of view. As a company, we are committed to diversity and inclusion and believe in treating everyone equally and with respect.”
